Pro Housing Pathways to Removing Obstacles

MARC seeks public input on PRO Housing funding application

The Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) has prepared an application to submit to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Pathways to Removing Obstacles to Housing (PRO Housing) grant program (FR-6700-N-98). The program assists communities in overcoming barriers to creating and preserving affordable housing. The funding requested is spread across six years with a total federal request of $4,686,996.53. MARC is proposing four projects to focus on activities that can help communities in the region overcome barriers to affordable housing. View application>> Learn more>>

The projects include:

  • Project around programs and activities to assist communities in reviewing and updating land use, zoning and development processes
  • Project to assist communities in reviewing and updating building codes
  • Project to develop a regional Community Land Trust (CLT) Consortium as recommended in the Regional Business Plan for a CLT or similar model
  • Project to further develop and fund a Regional Housing Trust Fund

Public hearing scheduled for 1 p.m. on Tues., Oct. 17

As part of the application requirements, MARC has posted the application to our website. MARC will be taking public comments on the application online, by e-mail at PROHousing@marc.org or at the scheduled public hearing on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2023, at 1 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Board Room at the MARC office, 600 Broadway Blvd., Suite 200, in Kansas City, Missouri.
